The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, August 15, 2024 is a Holy Day of Obligation. The Feast of Assumption, The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, commemorates Mary being taken, body and soul, into Heaven.
You are invited to join us, Mass will be celebrated at Saint Paul Church on Thursday, August 15 at 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM. All are welcome to stay and pray the Rosary after the 9:00 AM Mass, led by St. Paul Knights of Columbus.
Mary embraces God's will and freely chooses to cooperate with God's grace, thereby fulfilling a crucial role in God's plan of salvation. Throughout the centuries, the Church has turned to the Blessed Virgin in order to come closer to Christ. Many forms of piety toward the Mother of God developed that help bring us closer to her Son. In these devotions to Mary, "while the Mother is honored, the Son, through whom all things have their being and in whom it has pleased the Father that all fullness should dwell, is rightly known, loved and glorified and . . . all His commands are observed." The Church honors her as the Mother of God, looks to her as a model of perfect discipleship, and asks for her prayers to God on our behalf.
Prayer for the Assumption of Mary
Father in heaven,
all creation rightly gives you praise,
for all life and all holiness come from you.
In the plan of your wisdom
she who bore the Christ in her womb
was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.
May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness
and join in her hymn of endless love and praise.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
