Calling ALL parish adults - Will you answer the call?
What is Safe Environment Training? In a continued effort to protect our children, the Archdiocese of Washington requires adults who will have contact with youth in a parish (or Catholic school) setting to submit to a background check, get fingerprinted and attend one 3-hour training module. Once you have completed the requirements, you are Safe Environment trained for life.
Why should I be Safe Environment trained? As the Body of Christ we are all called to use our gifts and talents to glorify God. By being trained, you are more freely able to be involved in parish ministries! Completing this training is one of three steps to being fully Safe Environment compliant.
Why now? There’s not a better time to get Safe Environment trained. Due to the pandemic, you can sign up for and complete your Safe Environment training module FROM THE COMFORT OF YOUR HOME! Typically, you must sign up for training and travel to/from that location (often a 30-40 minute one-way commute). Right now, the Archdiocese is hosting these trainings online.
Follow these 3 easy steps to become fully trained Step 1 - Visit
www.virtus.org, create an account (must use full legal name) and sign up for training.
Step 2 - Get fingerprinted, email Cindy Mengle (
[email protected]) and you will be emailed all the necessary paperwork.
Step 3 - Complete a volunteer application that will be emailed to you also.
Thank you in advance for answering the call to protect our children and enrich our community with your talents!
