St. Paul Knights of Columbus Council # 11105
Our Council celebrated their 25^th Anniversary by hosting dinner in the Parish Center on April 21, 2018. Many Knights and parishioners attended and enjoyed the evening.
 
We are thankful for the support and guidance of:

We wish to thank the 25^th Anniversary Committee:
Gary Hand, Jim Gallagher PGK, Gerry Benedick and Dee Otillio. 
In addition, thank you to everyone involved in making this a wonderful celebration!         
 
Some of our many activities include:
Sponsoring the Tootsie Roll Drive; Assisting at local area Special Olympics to support the community’s mentally and physically challenged adults and children; sponsoring parish family dinners and encouraging fellowship and comradery; collecting used bikes for the “Bikes for the World” initiative to provide inexpensive transportation to peoples of the poorest of countries; participating in the Damascus Day Parade; assist at Parish functions with setups/cleanups; maintain the Council’s Gospel Garden of Life; lead the parish in the Rosary on Fifth Sundays of the Month as well as on special Feast days of the Blessed Virgin Mary and during the 40 Days for Life Campaigns and encourage parishioners to participate in vigils at the local late-term abortion clinic during the 40 DFL campaigns.  Council members hold rosary-making classes with our young religious education students; sponsor father/daughter and mother/son dances.  Many Knights participate as Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers, Choir members, assist with pastoral care and religious education, and serve on parish committees.  The Council also assists our Pastor, Father Pierce, whenever needed.

The formation of St. Paul Council began in 1992, almost a full year before the council would be instituted.  Then District Deputy, Edgar Haynes was responsible for the council’s formation and put together a team:  Council Development Chairman William Fisher, Supreme Insurance Representative John Weinmann, Bishop McNamara Assembly Color Corps Commander Robert Jack, Bishop McNamara Council Financial Secretary William Schenkel and Past Grand Knight Bill Van Horn.  At that time Rev. Peter Sweeney was the Pastor of St. Paul Church and Bill Van Horn was the acting Chairman/Liaison between the Knights of Columbus and Father Sweeney.  The formation team and their wives were busy with bulletin announcements, scheduling use of the Church Hall (now Norris Hall), and standing outside after Masses in below freezing weather to answer questions,  recruit new members and sign up the required 30 Charter members. 
 
The Charter Officers accepted the challenge of leadership, and thirty charter members signed up to form a new council.  Their hard work paid off and St. Paul Council #11105 was instituted on April 16, 1993 by District Deputy Ed Haynes.  Ed went on to serve the Knights of Columbus as Master of the Fourth Degree and then as Maryland State Deputy.
